INSURANCE FOR TEAMS

 Premier Girls Fastpitch Team Insurance includes:

• General Liability insurance with limits that include:
  • Liability per occurrence of $2,000,000
  • Damage to rented premises of $1,000,000
  • Personal and Advertising Liability of $1,000,000
  • General Aggregate limits of $5,000,000
  • Participant Legal Liability limit of $1,000,000
• Sexual Abuse & Molestation coverage with limits of $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 aggregate automatically included.
• Excess Participant Medical Coverage with limits of $100,000 with a $2,500 deductible underwritten by AXIS Insurance Company. The policy provides excess medical coverage for injuries incurred during participation in the team’s softball activities.  Benefits are payable for treatment for up to two years following the injury/accident. There must be treatment within 60 days of the injury/accident.
• Additional insured status for facility and field owners included in the policy – no additional fee.
• Self-service for certificates of insurance for Teams and Additional Insureds through the PGF website.

The policy runs from the date of purchase (but no earlier than September 1^st) to September 1^st – following the traditional softball year for most teams.  This is team coverage – it does not follow the individual participant or registrant and provides liability and accident coverage for the team’s normal softball activities including training, practices, most fund raisers, and participation in tournaments, friendlies, and scrimmages (even if not a PGF sanctioned event).  All participants should be registered with PGF, but temporary players such as guests, pick up players, try out participants, etc. are covered if you have a signed waiver in place.  All participants who register through the PGF website (pay fee, upload photo and birth certificate electronically have signed off on a waiver – all others should sign a hard copy form which is retained indefinitely by the team/organization.  Regional teams must have a hard copy waiver signed by all participants if they do not register participants with PGF. 

CERTIFICATES FOR FIELD OWNERS

Order and print certificates for field owners through the website once your team and player registrations are completed by going to the PGF website, login, click on MY REGISTRATIONS, click on the PRINT AND ADD button, select ADD ADDITIONAL – complete the information for the field owner as prompted by the system, and SUBMIT.  Once approved by the PGF office you may print form the PRINT AND ADD button as well.  We highly recommend you order your certificates at least a week in advance as all certificates must be approved by the PGF office.  For special requests for wording on certificates, contact the PGF Insurance Broker at gnewborn@siprisk.com or by phone at 908-788-9080 (eastern time).

CERTIFICATES FOR OTHERS

Only field or facility owners (landlords), or sponsors are automatically covered as Additional Insureds under the PGF Team Insurance Program.  We are seeing an alarming trend where tournament hosts (directors or sanctioning bodies) are asking to be named as an additional insured on the team’s insurance.  It is very unusual for any business to ask its customers to provide them with insurance coverage and when you select a tournament, you are the customer for the tournament host.  There are legal and risk management reasons why you should not be sharing your insurance with a tournament host as well.  Until teams push back on this request, more tournament hosts will do this.  The fact is, there are other (better) ways that a tournament host can reduce their risk other than asking to share your insurance coverage.  Does the tournament host have their own insurance, or are they depending on yours to protect them?  Do you want to play in an event that does not purchase adequate insurance to protect themselves and their participants?  

HOW DO I FILE A CLAIM?
